Press Secretary Charles P. Reyes Jr. also admitted that the administration is no longer confident that its request for a one-year delay of federalization will be granted by the U.S. Congress.
“We haven’t heard anything conclusively but our feeling is there’s no strong support for a further extension,” he told the Variety.
The governor’s lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Labor it was filed on Sept. 8, 2008.
Last March 12, Friedman placed the case “under advisement.”
Some local lawyers and CNMI legislators believe the judge could make a ruling this summer.
Asked if the administration intends to appeal its case if the judge rules against the governor, Reyes declined to comment.
