Military vessels depart Saipan

The USS Pathfinder, a military research ship that arrived last July 2, is leaving at 4 p.m., while the USS Charlotte, the submarine whose officers and crew participated in the Liberation Day parade last Saturday, is departing at an undisclosed time today.

The USS Pathfinder, according to Inchscape, has 42 officers and crew.

It conducted a survey and  worked at the port while docked here.

Inchscape was the firm that provided the military ship with husbanding services.

The USS Charlotte, a 361-feet Los Angeles-class submarine led by Cmdr. Leonard Dollaga, visited Saipan for the second time.

Its home port is Pearl Harbor in Hawaii.

The first time it visited Saipan was in June 2005, also for rest and recreation.

The husbanding agents and the Seaport of Saipan said they can’t disclose more information about the two ships’ activities.
