The Ministry of Health remains on guard as it monitors the disease closely in order to evaluate possible changes and impact on our population. Although most people seem to recover from Influenza A (H1N1) infections without hospitalisation, the World Health Organization (WHO) warns that the severity of pandemics, like this one, can change over time. People are strongly advised to take every day actions to stay healthy and prevent the spread of influenza, including regular hand washing, proper coughing/sneezing etiquettes, avoiding sick persons, and especially to call the 24-hotline (488-0555) if experiencing flu-like symptoms (cough, sore throat, runny nose, fever).
Response activities continue at this time to secure measures for rapid detection, containment, and to ensure appropriate care of sick individuals. Please forward all questions on Influenza A(H1N1) to the 24-Hour Hotline at 488-0555, or the Ministry of Health Emergency Operations Center at 488-0675 during working hours.
