The 16-year-old teenage boy was booked for obstructing justice and harboring a fugitive.
His girlfriend, the 15-year-old teenager who escaped from the detention was found hiding under a table in his bedroom.
Acting Department of Public Safety spokesman Jason T. Tarkong said DPS arrested the teenage boyfriend of the female fugitive on Tuesday morning.
Tarkong said that at about 5:33 a.m. on Tuesday, police detectives followed up a lead on the female detainee who had already escaped twice over the weekend.
The search led them to the house of the suspect in Kagman.
Tarkong said when police asked the male juvenile if he had made contact with his girlfriend, he denied meeting her.
But the love marks or hickeys on the suspect’s neck gave him away.
He later admitted to police that he was with the female escapee at about 1 o’clock that morning.
The suspect also admitted to dropping his girlfriend at an abandoned house in Kagman 11 just 15 minutes before the detectives arrived.
Tarkong said that the day before, detectives visited the suspect and warned him about harboring a fugitive. Tarkong said that the suspect offered assistance and escorted the police to the location where he dropped off his girlfriend.
Police searched the area but failed to locate the escapee.
Tarkong said after further questioning, the detectives learned that the suspect was not telling the truth and his statements kept changing.
The suspect later admitted that the escapee was at his residence when the police arrived.
This was confirmed by a witness who saw the escapee by the male suspect’s residence 10 minutes after the police left with the male suspect to search for her.
Tarkong said it took a while for the male suspect to open his bedroom door.
Police did an immediate search of the escapee in the room and around the house but failed to locate her.
Tarkong said police officer Jesse Concepcion rechecked the suspect’s bedroom and noticed a small table in the bedroom covered with a tablecloth.
Upon lifting the tablecloth, Concepcion discovered the escapee hiding under the table. Police arrested both suspects.
