Gulf war veteran laid to rest

Sgt. Kaipat passed away at the age of 54 last July 8 due to a lingering illness.

The Guam National Guard and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3457 jointly conducted the military funeral honors for Sgt. Kaipat.

VFW Post 3457 Commander Larry Guerrero and District Commander Mariano Fajardo rendered part of the military honor which was also attended by Lt. Gov. Eloy Inos.

Dr. Edgar Tudor who is also a VFW members played the taps.

Instead of a usual hearse, Sgt. Kaipat was brought to his final resting place on a pick-up truck.

Military and Veteran Affairs Office Executive Director Ruth Coleman said Kaipat is a great loss to the community.

“He served (the military) honorably and decided to move back home after the gulf war 17 years ago,” she said.
