Canice K. Taitano, former GOP Precinct 1 club secretary, said he is running not to make a living but to make a difference.
He decided to move to the Covenant Party because he has known Gov. Benigno R. Fitial for “so many years.”
Taitano said he also wants the people of Precinct 1 to have more choices.
“I think we need new faces and I want to help because I believe I can make a difference,” he added.
For many years, Taitano said he has been helping Republican candidates in Precinct 1.
But the current House, which is dominated by the Republican Party, is “very complacent,” he added.
He said the CNMI needs good leadership and doers in the House.
He said he believes in the Covenant Party’s slogan: “Together, we can make it better.”
