There are currently four poker parlors and one pawnshop in Kagman.
Residents mentioned that poker rooms and pawnshops attract gambling addiction, drugs, and crime.
Crystal methamphetamine users usually gather in poker rooms day and night.
Crimes such as child neglect, domestic violence, burglaries, and others are linked to poker rooms and pawnshops.
To top it all off, Kagman does not have a police station, yet it is the most isolated and fastest growing village in the Northern Marianas today.
We humbly ask the Legislature to consider overriding Fitial’s veto to abolish poker rooms and pawn-shops entirely in Kagman so that the residents can have a better quality of life. Thank you.
