This, after seeing a 23.53 percent increase in the brand new car sales last month over a year ago’s sales for the same period.
Based on latest reports from the Commonwealth Auto Dealers Association, the three car dealers—Joeten Motors, Microl Corp. and Triple “J” –sold only 36 brand new units—19 sedans, four trucks, one van and 12 sports utility vehicles–for July.
Last year, they sold 65 cars for the same month.
The dealers sold a total of 232 brand new cars from January to July this year, down by 43.41 percent from last year’s 410 cars sold for the same seven-month period.
This year’s sales include 129 sedans, 27 trucks, 11 vans and 65 SUVs.
Microl Corp. once again took the lead in July with 14 cars sold, followed closely by Triple “J” Motors and Joeten Motors which sold 11 units each.
Toyota once again grabbed the top as the leading choice by brand for July, with 13 units sold. Nissan and Hyundai followed with six units sold each, Mazda with five units sold, Honda with four units sold, and Chevrolet and Ford with one unit sold each.
Sales for used cars continue to soar, surpassing the sales for brand new cars with its total 242 units sold from January to July.
Last month, the three dealers sold 32 used cars, with Triple “J” Motors leading and getting a 53.1 percent market share for 17 used cars sold. Joeten Motors followed with 10 used cars sold and Microl Corp. with five units sold.
Triple “J” Motors is the island’s distributor of Hyundai, Mitsubishi, Isuzu, Suzuki and Mazda. Microl Corp. distributes Toyota and Chevrolet while Joeten Motors distributes Nissan, Ford, Honda and Kia.
