NMC criminal justice students form group

The elected officers are inviting other criminal justice students to join the kick off rally at 12 noon on Saturday in front of the Ada gym.

The students, with the help of criminal justice department adviser Judy DLG. Torres, formed the organization earlier this month.

During the summer semester from April to July, the students met every Thursday to discuss the drafting of their organization by-laws and constitution.

This month, the members elected their officers for school year 2009-2010: Tony A. Benavente, president; Christine J. Lely, vice president’ and Chrislaine J. Lely, secretary and treasurer.

Torres said their mission is to help criminal justice students in their curricular and academic

Conducting group studies is one of their activities.

Benavente said they will also extend some of their activities to the community.

“It is our role, as officers, to be role models not only within the school but also in the community,” he said.

The group has 45 members so far.
