Perry Inos Jr., program coordinator of the Office of Student Activities and Leadership, said it was the first time that a large number of enrollees had gathered at NMC since the college was re-accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
“Our student recruitment effort was very successful,” he said. “NMC will continue encouraging students to attend classes at the college and there is going to be room for more [enrollees].”
Based on the number of enrollees yesterday, Inos said they were hoping to accept more students until Friday.
Associated Students of NMC president Miles Rodriguez, student volunteers, students with the Work Study Program and personnel from the college departments helped facilitate the registration process.
Since there were only a few advisors, enrollees waited in line for hours before completing the registration process.
NMC is working on a plan to expand and develop the college to further accommodate students, Inos said.
During the registration, students were given survey forms.
Inos said the survey will gather specific data to help improve NMC facilities and student programs.
The incoming students can write down their concerns in the survey forms.
The survey asks students whether they favor having lockers for rent, more bulletin boards, more student-oriented activities and more leisure amenities at snack bar.
