Cockers, breeders form group, elect officers

The gathering of the United Cockers and Breeders Federation of Saipan at the Kilili Pavilion in Susupe yesterday was attended by over 80 members, including those with 32 affiliated groups.

Jimmy Blancia, who was elected chairman of the board, said they have 180 members so far.

Three local cockers observed the meeting and expressed interest in joining the new group.

The elected officers are Jimmy Pascual, president; Jun Miday, internal vice president; Ruben Talen, external vice president; Gene San Gabriel, treasurer; Eddie Iling, secretary; Domingo Dominador, auditor; Ali Tabora and Nonoy Avelino, public information officers.

The other members of the board are Efren Pinion, Omar Usat, Alex Brizia and Marvin De Belen.

Its affiliated groups are Cavite Zodiac, RNR Farm, China Eye Entry 1 & 2, Double R, Cavite Slashers, Bicol Farm, Sun Mars, Solid Four, RN 29, As Teo, My Ninong, Gelo Entry, Usapang Sabong, Bat, Laguna Mindanao Farm, RS Entry, Bombastic Kagman, JJ, Lucky Pao Pao, Shuffle Baby, ECP, Hope, Sunset Blue, King Cobra, Specialist, Montague Farm, Seaside Mart, Junior, Zaldy Group, JI8 Mig’s, and the Laguna Mindanao Rod.

Each group has four to 15 members.

Blancia said they have organized themselves to propagate the sports, and improve the quality of game fowl breeding.

“We want to uphold the sportsmanship and camaraderie among cockers and breeders here,” he said.

Pascual promised to “do my best to serve the organization for the interest of the cockers, breeders and the community.”

On Aug. 23, the group’s officers will meet to discuss their plans and other programs.
