Military doctors, dentists experience island hospitality

“My wife and I want to express how grateful we are for their services to our community,” Department of Public Safety Commissioner Santiago F. Tudela said in an interview with the Variety.

“It was absolutely terrific and a big surprise. We though it would be a barbeque party, but turned out to be a tremendous festival,” said the team’s officer-in-charge Capt. Anita. Kobuszewski.

“We were delighted,” she said.

Lt. Gov. Eloy S. Inos met each of the sailors and Marines during the celebration at Tudela’s residence and expressed how grateful he was to the team.

Tudela said Gov. Benigno R. Fitial and Inos were both thankful for the services extended by the 4th Medical Battalion and 4th Dental Battalion based in Marietta, Georgia, who were involved in the Innovative Readiness Training mission that will end today at the Commonwealth Health Center.

Dinner was followed by cultural dance numbers that involved the participation of the guests.

Hospitalman Chief Corpsman Kate Noble expressed how delighted they were to provide services to the commonwealth.

Noble said she was moved by the kindness shown by parents of the children who availed of the free medical services.

“They [the parents] brought us guavas and souvenir shirts,” Noble said, adding that she told the people they did not need to bring gifts.

The mission saw more than 1,500 patients, including children with special needs.
