Henry presents credentials to Taiwan president Ma

The Republic of China’s military bass band played Palau’s National Anthem when Ambassador Henry previewed the Honor Guards. Accompanying Ambassador Henry was Palau Embassy’s Minister-Counselor & Charge d’Affaires ad interim, Mr. J. Marvin T. Ngirutang, Jr.

President Ma and Ambassador Henry exchanged cordial remarks about the strong relations between Palau and Taiwan. President Ma emphasized the fact that Palau is the closest ally of Taiwan in terms of geography. He also announced that China Airlines will increase its flight schedule to Palau with two additional flights per week.Ambassador Henry welcomed this news and thanked President Ma for his Government’s undying support to Palau over the 10 years history of diplomatic relations. Palau and Taiwan established diplomatic relations in December 1999.Ambassador Henry reiterated Palau’s staunch support for Taiwan’s participation in international organizations such as the United Nations and the World Health Organization. Ambassador Henry pointed out that the cordial relations between the two countries have grown even stronger, enjoying frequent high-level officials visit and extensive projects of cooperation in the areas of agriculture, public health, tourism, culture, and telecommunications.Ambassador Jackson Henry, before taking the ambassadorial post, served as the Chairman of the Palau Visitors Board of Directors. Ambassador Henry has 18 years of banking and real estate business behind him and holds an MBA from the University of Washington. Ambassador Jackson was born and raised in the State of Angaur.
