The purpose of this assembly is to appeal to the delegation to support legislation granting improved status for the thousands of guest workers, immediate relatives, FAS citizens, CNMI permanent residents, stateless citizens born in the CNMI between 1974 and 1978, and others who presently face uncertain status.
“The future status of these members of our community bears enormous implications for the future of the CNMI’s families, workforce, and businesses, and for our efforts to build a stronger, more sustainable, and more democratic commonwealth,” Representative Sablan said.
“We welcome and urge all who support the cause for improved status to come and be counted at this momentous event,” she added.
“Kudos to the Saipan City Taxi Association for offering free transportation going to the assembly!” Sablan said.
Pickup points will be in front of the Pacific Islands Club and in front of Aqua Resort at 30-minute intervals starting from 1 p.m, until 3 p.m. Carpooling is also encouraged.
Those interested in donating drinking water or other supplies may call 989-3306.
“Please wear white and bring an umbrella,” Sablan said.

Low water pressure in upper San Roque area
(CUC) — The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. wishes to inform its customers in the upper San Roque areas — all points above San Roque Church — that the CUC and Water Task Force are conducting water pressure adjustments on two newly installed pressure reducing valve equipments in the distribution system.
This testing period begins on Aug. 10-13, starting from 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. daily.
These system checks are necessary to ensure proper water flow and to regulate excessive pressures from damaging the distribution system.
As part of the WTF and CUC’s continuing effort to improve water service, customers in these areas are advised to expect intermittent service disruptions as these tests are ongoing.
Customers along the high elevation areas of upper San Roque can expect reduced pressures during this testing period.
Once final pressure adjustments are completed, normal water service will be restores to all affected customers.
Residents are encouraged to practice strict water conservation and to teach children and household workers to save water, especially during this period.
Rainwater catchment systems/water tanks should be cleaned and float valves installed or replaced to ensure that water does not overflow from any tanks.
For more information, you may contact Bruce Megarr, deputy director for water and wastewater operations, at telephone no. 235-7025 through 235-7032 ext. #147, or Mariano Iglecias, water and wastewater operations manager, at ext. #155.
