Man arrested for punching, kicking wife

Roland Kapileo’s bail hearing was scheduled yesterday afternoon.

In his affidavit, Detective Christopher Leon Guerrero stated that a female called the Department of Public Safety at 8:52 p.m. on July 20, reporting a domestic violence assault and battery incident in Tanapag.

Leon Guerrero said responding police officers went to the scene at a residence behind the former Sam Marianas Garment and heard a man shouting.

Police saw the man, later identified as Kapileo kicking and punching the restroom door inside the house.

The officers were not able to enter the house immediately because three dogs were barking and charging toward them.

Police ordered the defendant to secure his dogs.

The officers then met the victim, Kapileo’s wife, whose left eye was so swollen she could barely open it.

She appeared to be in great pain and had bruises on her arms.

Police also saw dried blood on the victim’s lip.

The victim was taken to the Commonwealth Health Center for treatment.

The defendant eluded police by fleeing through a back window.

Police learned that the victim had been very ill.

The defendant left their house on July 17 and only came home on July 20.

Police learned that the victim worked from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 20 but she was forced to take off from work and went to the hospital for check up.

She went home at about 6:30 p.m. to rest but the defendant came home drunk.

The victim said the wanted to have sex but she told him to stop bothering her because she was very sick.

The defendant then got mad and started punching her face.

The victim ran outside but the defendant followed her and kept on punching her face.

When she fell to the ground, the defendant kicked her and shouted profanities at her.

Leon Guerrero said the same victim called DPS to report a domestic violence disturbance on May 2, 2009.

The couple had a quarrel and the defendant punched and kicked the victim several times.

The victim was able to run to a store where she called the police.

The defendant was not arrested last May because he fled the area after knowing his wife called the police.

The Attorney General’s Office charged the defendant with assault and battery, and disturbing the peace. A $10,000 bail was recommended for the defendant’s temporary liberty.
