Palau holds anti-corruption consultation

In line with President Johnson Toribiong’s vision and intention to promote good governance, anti-corruption, freedom of information and to ensure a transparent and open government, the Ministry of State through its Bureau of Foreign Affairs was tasked to seek technical expertise and assistance from outside donors to conduct the national consultation.

Representatives from the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat, the United Nations Development Program, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, the Pacific Ombudsman Alliance and an ombudsman from the Cook Islands conducted the consultation/workshop.Toribiong, Paramount Chiefs Ibedul and Reklai, Senate President Mlib Tmetuchl, Vice President Kerai Mariur, and Governors Association Chairman Lazarus Kodep attended the first day of the consultation/workshop. Also participating were senators, governors, cabinet ministers, government directors and chiefs as well as representatives from the national judiciary, the ethics commission, the office of the special prosecutor, the public auditors office, the ombudsman office and other government officials.Representatives from the civil society as well as the media were invited to the second day session, which discussed transparency and freedom of information.
