She clarified yesterday that her statement had “no negative connotations” about the board.
But Calvo said illegal cockfights still occur on Saipan, which has affected her business.
“It’s a big loss in business last year because of many illegal cokfights,” she added.
Mayor Juan B. Tudela earlier confirmed that illegal cockfight were being conducted in different villages on Saipan.
Calvo sent a letter to Tudela, recommending nominees to the board since the terms of its three members — chairman Manny Sablan, John Borja and Pete Castro — will expire on June 30.
She denied asking the mayor to revamp the board.
