Solomon Airlines Airbus A320 delayed for a week

The airline, however, indicated that its flights to and from Brisbane will operate as normal and according to its published schedule.

“Strategic Airlines advised us late on Friday that due to some technical issues with the French Civil Aviation department regarding the registration of the aircraft and the Maintenance approvals required; delays were beyond their control and this was partly to do with the lack of resources available within the Civil Aviation department in France.”

“This in turn delayed the aircraft from positioning to Brisbane to operate our services,” the airline spokesman said in a statement. “We are advised that the aircraft will be released to fly to Brisbane sometime during the next week and will be ready for Solomon Airlines services by the following Monday 10 August.”

In the meantime, the airline advised that a Strategic Airlines Airbus A330 will be operating the services on Monday and Friday while  the Wednesday flight will be operated by another operator and all of this has been put into place by Strategic Airlines to support its contractual obligations to Solomon Airlines.

The Airbus A330 is a larger aircraft with 278 seats and this particular aircraft was used last Christmas to move students from Nadi to Honiara under charter to Solomon Airlines and the NTU.

The airline stressed that it’s business as usual and all plans for next week are in place for the operation to be maintained by Strategic Airlines whilst awaiting delivery of its own Airbus A320.
