Las Vegas Night raises over $12K for Rotary

Rotarian Ed Salas said the proceeds were from the ticket sales and from the gaming tables, which included Kina (in lieu of Bingo), Black Jack, Roulette, Craps and Texas Hold ‘Em Poker.

The winners of the major prizes were awarded during the Rotary Club meeting at the Hyatt Regency Saipan yesterday.

Gilbert Aldan, 26, this year’s grand prize winner who chose to have the brand new Toyota Yaris car over the $10,000 cash prize received the key from Microl Corporation.

Aldan, a front desk officer of the Fiesta Resort & Spa, said he could not believe it when someone told him he was the grand prize winner at the Las Vegas Night raffle draw.

“I was there during the event but I left before the raffle drawing. I never thought that one of my 10 tickets would win,” he said.

He added that he only believed his luck the following day when he received calls from several people congratulating him.

“It’s just luck, I mean getting a car for $40 is really luck,” he said.

Aldan said this is also his first time to win in raffle draws. Aldan was accompanied by his mother Raquel Aldan and his two sons to the awarding.

Salas said that they are planning an earlier Las Vegas Night next year.

“We may be holding it again at the World Resort where it is more spacious,” Salas said.

Club treasurer Ely Stoilova earlier said that the proceeds of the Las Vegas Night will fund several Rotary Club projects, particularly the Kagman Community Children’s Park.
