GOVERNOR Ralph DLG Torres and first lady Diann T. Torres on Saturday attended the Zumba Fun Day fundraising event organized by the Saipan Maga’Haga Lady Eagles Club at the Garapan roundhouse as part of the island’s celebration of International Women’s Month.
Over 100 members of various island organizations participated in the event which seeks to fund the club’s future projects and collaborations with other women’s groups in the CNMI, said the group’s president, Angelica Vina Lastimado.
Zumba instructors from various fitness organizations volunteered their time in support of the fundraising event from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
“The instructors help us teach Zumba for free,” Lastimado said as she expressed gratitude to the first lady who was the main sponsor of the event, and the governor for his support.
The governor, in an interview, said, Zumba “is a really awesome way” to stay fit.
He reiterated his support for the various community organizations that are helping residents stay fit and healthy.
