The 14-year-old victim said the abuse happened on June 11, 2008.
Aside from the victim, her mother, a psychologist and a Division of Youth Services case worker also testified during the jury trial in the courtroom of Presiding Judge Robert Naraja.
Assistant Attorney General Brian Gallagher is prosecuting the case while Calvo’s counsel is G. Anthony Long.
“He sexually abused me,” the victim responded to Gallagher’s question, after she pointed at Calvo and identified him as her father.
She claimed that her father made sexual advances toward her.
She said she did not inform her mother because Calvo “told me not to.”
But she said she told her friends about it and sought their advice.
As of yesterday afternoon, Estelita Seman Ada, the victim’s mother, was still on the witness stand.
Earlier, Dr. Kendall E. Gladding, who evaluated the victim, told the jurors that the teenager was having post-traumatic disorder due to a “sexual encounter.”
Long questioned her association with the victim’s relative.
Gladding was then with the Community Guidance Center. She is now working with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Gladding told the court that she will not compromise her integrity for a “favor.”
Julian Camacho of DYS testified that the victim was crying when she saw her.
Her eyes were red and something heavy was resting on her shoulders, Camacho recalled.
Calvo pleaded not guilty to the charges of sexual assault in the second degree, sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree, sexual abuse of a minor in the third degree, and disturbing the peace.
