Search on for McDonald’s Singing Idol 2009

McDonald’s Saipan president and owner Joe Ayuyu said that attractive prizes and lots of surprises are at stake for the grand prize winners in the competition on Oct. 3.

The registration for the McDonald’s Singing Idol 2009 will be on Saturday (Sept. 19) at the McDonald’s Middle Road (Chalan Laulau) branch.

“This is one way of creating excitement for the children and for exposing the singing talents of the children,” Ayuyu said.

McDonald’s Saipan administration and marketing assistant Ana Olaes said that the singing competition is divided into three categories—the McDonald’s Little Singing Idol for 6 to 9-year-old participants, the McDonald’s Junior Singing Idol for the 10 to 12-year olds, and the McDonald’s Teen Singing Idol for the 13 to17-year old category.

Olaes said that the elimination round for the singing competition will be at 10 a.m. on Sept. 26, 2009.

She said that they will be picking out five participants for each category in the elimination round to compete in the final event.

“Participants must bring their own CD or Minus One and they can pick their own songs,” Olaes said.

Win-win fundraiser

To show their support for the needs of the private schools in the island, Ayuyu said McDonald’s has come up with a fundraising event that would help the schools through the support of the community.

Ayuyu said that McDonald’s Saipan has distributed over 2,000 coupons to private schools that are redeemable for two Saturdays—Sept. 19 and 26.

“We are doing this to thank the community for their tremendous support to us throughout the years and this is our way of giving back to the community,” Ayuyu said.

“We are urging everyone to get their coupons and together, let us help our private schools,” Ayuyu said.

For the “Super Saturday Specials”, the community can ask for coupons from the private schools, bring the coupon to the McDonald’s Chalan Laulau branch to avail of the dollar menu.

Olaes said that after the two Saturday promos, they will tally all the coupons from the different schools and the school with the most number of returned coupons will win cash prizes.

“We will give $3,000 to the school who wins first place, $2,000 for the second and $1,000 for the third placer,” Olaes said. She added that all the other participating private schools will get consolation prizes.

“We are inviting one and all to come and support our events on the next two Saturdays,” Olaes said.

Super Saturday Specials

The Super Saturday Specials will be on Sept. 19 and 26, where selected food items will be sold for a dollar.

On Sept. 19, McDonald’s will be offering breakfast specials—sausage, egg and cheese biscuit sandwich, one piece sausage burrito, and egg McMuffin sandwich. Lunch and dinner specials are cheeseburger sandwich, McChicken sandwich and small fry.

On Sept. 26, lunch and dinner specials are cheeseburger sandwich, McChicken sandwich, two pieces apple pie, and small fry—all for a dollar each order. On these two Saturdays, all kinds of happy meal (hamburger, cheeseburger, nuggets) are only $2.99.
