I got this copy from one of the defendants’ local attorneys. Because of his professionalism in dealing with the law and phenomenal public reputation, he had the courtesy to inform me that this case was dismissed and that he was not informed.
I was also surprised why the Attorney General’s Office moved to drop the case.
This case was about the two correction officers who was arrested and charged for assault and battery and misconduct in public office during their supervision at the adult correctional facility.
The question is why did the AGO fail to inform the victim or his family about the dismissal order.
The motion filed to dismissed was prior to Sept. 2, 2009.
This is the date when the order was signed by the Superior Court presiding judge.
The AGO could have informed both parties that they intended to file motion to drop the case.
Where is the integrity and justice in this public office?
What is the most reasonable justification in dropping the case?
Are you saying to the public that you have an intention in placing the two officers back to the correctional facility?
It will be a nightmare to the people who live there.
It will be negligent to the government if the officers commit another brutality.
The two officers should at least be punished as a deterrence and as an example tp make others decide not to commit crimes.
Sometimes when a judge or prosecuting attorney make decisions that are not right it causes civil disobedience in society.
We need to get answers to the victim’s family and the public; it cannot just end this way.
The victim has the right to be informed; after all, he is the complainant.
If the defendants are going to be administratively punished, the AGO should have at least given the victim courtesy notice and the other parties involved in regards to their intentions.
If we see that there is a problem, let’s fixed it, don’t hide it.
The AGO has a problem, and I want them to know that we cannot play these games when it comes to people’s lives.
The criminal justice system shows selective preference in terms of prosecution.
Who are we trying to impress, the governor?
The AGO should be the eyes and ears in protecting the people of the commonwealth.
Dropping the case was wrong and it’s political suicide.
The criminal case could have been dragged and dropped right after the election.
But the AGO made the wrong move. It’s an election year, and the public is entitled to an honest government that is free from corruption.
The new AG was confirmed by the Senate last month and vowed to uphold the laws of the commonwealth.
He has a good intention to lead the commonwealth in the right direction.
But he cannot function and make a fair judgment in his official capacity if political influence is involved.
The commonwealth will never learn and develop if the people don’t change the system.
Justice will never be served if the status quo (the way things are) remains.
To make change and clean up the criminal justice system we need the people’s support and our legislative leaders to cooperate for the betterment of the commonwealth.
This is the very reason why we need our legislators to push the legislative initiative for an elected attorney general.
Because corruption does exist, I am for an elected attorney generally, because I will participate in the hiring and firing process.
If the people have an elected attorney general, he must at least serve for two years, and if we don’t like his work ethics, the people will vote to fire him and we make sure that he brings his chair along with him.
We are not going to wait for another four years change him; the people are going to suffer the consequences for four years if it’s an appointed AG, especially if he becomes a puppet that only serves at the pleasure of the governor.
This administration definitely has to change; fortunately we have couple of months away before we see the light of days shining upon us.
In this case, the victim and his family were emotionally injured and were only seeking to enter and exit the system in a fair and just manner, but justice was denied.
As a result, the people will decide if they want to continue the oppression of this administration or have equal public representation. You be the judge and God bless the commonwealth.
