In an interview, Toribiong said “we have received word today from the United States government confirming their position of temporary resettling the Uighurs in Palau.”
Toribiong also verified reports that four Uighurs have agreed to temporarily resettle in Palau.“Four Uighurs are confirmed to temporarily settle in Palau,” he said.The president however, had not revealed yet the details of the move.H e said the United States Congress will need to be informed 15 days before the transfer of the detainees.Earlier reports stated that lawyer s for four of the detainees accepted Washington’s offer to relocate to Palau.In earlier interviews, Toribiong said that the transfer will likely occur before January. In June, Toribiong announced that Palau is accepting the temporary resettlement of the detainees.He said that special travel documents will be given to the detainees to facilitate their transfer here.
