REPAC gives to Palau

The container, which was addressed to the Minister of Education, contained donations specifically marked for the Ministry of Health, the Belau National Museum, The Public Library, Palau Community College, and the Ministry of Education.

The donations, which comprised of medical equipments, books, toys, and cantilever shelving systems, have been unloaded at the Ministry of Education and are being distributed accordingly.“The books, toys, and the respirators have been given to the appropriate recipients,” according to MOE officials. The shelving systems, however, because they are in pieces, need to be assembled to ensure that each entity receives a full set of shelving system and its appropriate components.”According to Mary Arius of the Public Library, most of the donated books will be distributed to the public school libraries.“We have sorted the books and will begin delivering them to the school libraries,” she said. “The books will definitely add to the collection of books in the libraries and would greatly increase students’ reading preferences.”The Minister of Education, Masa-Aki Emesiochl, commented earlier that he is grateful for the donations, which he said, “come from caring and generous people.”  Moreover, he hopes that those who benefit from the donations are appreciative, as does the Ministry of Education.REPAC was established in 2005 and has since helped provide aid to a number of organizations throughout the Pacific region.  It has provided similar donations to American Samoa, Republic of the Marshalls, the Federated States of Micronesia, and Saipan.  It has an established website (www.reachoutpacific.org) through which organizations can log unto to post items on REPAC’s “wish-list” or  to view available items on the site.
