Police said the suspects fled after the store owner chased them with a knife.
The 39-year-old store owner was injured after he was punched in his left temple by a suspect.
He suffered minor injuries, such as redness and swelling to the left temple.
He was treated by medics but refused to be transported to a hospital, police said.
Police arrested Tarakiel Gino Asanuma for robbery, assault with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery.
Investigation by Detective Chris Leon Guerrero showed that the two suspects entered the store at 1:13 p.m.
Asanuma had his face covered with a red and white handkerchief and was armed with a long pointed rusty metal object.
Asanuma’s companion was described as about 5’4” tall, medium build, wearing a camouflage long sleeve shirt and pants, with his face covered with a red and white handkerchief and a black beanie on his head.
Police said as Asanuma entered the store, he threatened to strike the owner with the long pointed object.
Police said Asanuma approached a 38-year-old female who was then holding her seven-month-old baby.
He pushed the woman aside to gain access behind the store counter, where he started rustling through the shelf looking for money, police said.
The store owner attempted to pull Asanuma out from behind the counter, but he was punched on his left temple.
Asanuma and his companion started to search for money, not knowing that the store owner had ran into the next room, grabbed a knife, and came out shouting.
The suspects ran out of the store while the owner chased them with the knife, police said.
A search was conducted for the two suspects in the immediate neighborhood and police later discovered the clothes, handkerchiefs and black beanie used by the suspects stuffed under a palapala.
Asanuma’s companion was spotted and chased by the police but he escaped. Police later discovered Asanuma hiding in an outhouse outside a residence not far from the crime scene.
Asanuma was positively identified by the owner as the one who assaulted him and tried to rob his store.
Asanuma was transported to the Department of Corrections where he was booked and detained.
