Ratan Miah appeared for arraignment on Thursday, last week with Public Defender Jason Shaw and entered a not guilty plea to one count of trafficking in a controlled substance.
Miah posted $250 surety bond and was released from custody.His status conference hearing is set for September 25 at 9 am in Ngerulmud.Miah was charged for selling 50 joints of marijuana on February 16 in front of the former PCCA building in Malakal, Hamlet.A court document stated that personnel of the Narcotics Division received information that Miah was offering to sell marijuana to one of their confidential informant.The personnel of the Narcotics Division conducted a controlled buy- bust operation in front of the former PCCA building in Malakal.The confidential informant was given $100 and managed to purchase 50 joints of marijuana from Miah.Miah was arrested later and was charged on August 3.
