Man in gunrunning case will change plea

Designated Presiding Judge David A. Wiseman on Friday scheduled Damien Pua’s change of plea hearing for Oct. 7.

Pua, who appeared in court with attorney Loren Sutton, was arrested on Sept. 17 in As Matuis.

The prosecutor is Assistant U.S. Attorney James Benedetto.

Pua, who has a prior conviction for second degree homicide,  earlier entered a plea of not guilty.

Records showed that on Feb. 19, 2009, a cooperating source purchased a blue Colt. .357 Magnum revolver with an obliterated serial number and several bullets from Pua who wrapped the $500 revolver in an oily rag.
