The participants were ninth to 12th graders with the Mantaray Battalion headed by S-5 Cadet Capt. Mark San Juan.
The group was divided into two and led by instructors Juan Salas and Joaquin O. Kiyoshi.
Kiyoshi said the students were able to collect 300 lbs. of trash along the roadside from Tototville to Pakpak Beach. They started at 8 a.m.
“The community should help clean up their area,” he added.
San Juan said the cleanup drive is part of the cadets’ service learning project every semester.
He said each JROTC company will choose how to accomplish the project.
After the typhoon, he added, he noticed some debris left uncollected along the roadside.
“The people should be more responsible for their trash. Please don’t leave around your trash,” San Juan said.
The students, he added, feel good whenever they see that their villages are clean.
