It was a wonderful experience and we learned a lot from the trip. It is refreshing to play a club that stresses participation over competition. Both the TBC and RBC believe that sportsmanship and fundamentals come before everything else.
We would also like to thank James Lee and the UBA for putting on a first rate tournament. To all the organization members that took the time referee and officiate the games we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. UBA goals in promoting the sports of basketball at the grass roots level are commendable.
It is not enough to tell kids to just say no or to stay away from harmful drugs and alcohol. Kids need to be given alternatives and activities to occupy their time. Youth organizations such as the RBC are important in communities in that they teach life skills and keep kids healthy. We need more organizations that reach out to younger kids 12 and below before they develop bad habits.
The Rollers Basketball Club is a blueprint that we will use to organize ourselves. Kids take a lot of time, energy and a little money, but we feel they are worth it. Youth organizations are proactive and preventive — pay a little now rather than pay a lot later. Most juvenile delinquents didn’t get much care and supervision. Thank you all once again.
