RB Camacho: ‘A clean community is a safe place’

RAMON “RB” Blas Camacho, an independent candidate for Saipan mayor, thanked community volunteers and organizations for “stepping up to the plate” by conducting cleanups and island beautification activities.

“A clean community is also a safe place,” he added as he encouraged other island residents and groups to maintain Saipan’s cleanliness and protect its environment.

“We all are the stakeholders of our community so we need to beautify our place, not just for tourism but also for us. This is important. By being involved in our community we also educate the younger generation about their civic duties as responsible members of  the community,” Camacho said.

He noted that when he was chairman of the Saipan and Northern Islands Municipal Council, they launched an adopt-a-place project as part of a neighborhood program.

If elected mayor, Camacho said he would continue supporting such projects and programs.

A lifelong farmer and a retired police major, Camacho is currently the chairman of the CNMI Board of Parole and was a Department of Public Safety law enforcement officer for 20 years.

Also running for mayor this year is Republican Rep. Joseph Leepan T. Guerrero.

In May 2021, Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality Administrator Eliceo Diaz Cabrera said he would run for mayor.

Another possible candidate is Democratic Rep. Richard T. Lizama.
