“For 30 years, thanks to the late Jose C. Tenorio (Joeten) and the late Manuel S. Villagomez (Kiyu), our sponsors, donors, and patrons — the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library remains the CNMI State Library Information hub, preserving the CNMI’s cultural heritage and connecting people, libraries, and government to the resources and tools they need to succeed and to build a strong community. This year, we continue to celebrate our 30th anniversary with a year-long series of programs and events that highlight our mission thanks to the continued support of our community, our patrons, and our dedicated team.  Our visit to Tinian and Rota highlight part of these achievements.

“Therefore, on behalf of the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library, the Antonio C. Atalig Memorial Library, the Tinian Public Library, the Commonwealth Library Council, and the Friends of the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library, we humbly present these new technology equipment in accordance with our LSTA 5-Year Strategic Plan Goal III: Maintain and Upgrade the CNMISL Technology Infrastructure to our public libraries on Rota and Tinian. We humbly thank the Honorable Governor Ralph DLG. Torres, the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development, and the Institute of Museum and Library Services, for giving us the opportunity to secure this much needed grant funding for our public libraries. This grant has provided invaluable support for our work in providing access to technology for our CNMI community. While restrictions are in place and as social and economic activities become more digital-based, the importance of digital tools, technology, infrastructure, are paramount.  We humbly thank Tinian Mayor Honorable Edwin P. Aldan and Rota Mayor Honorable Efraim M. Atalig, and their dedicated library team for their hard work and continued partnership and support of our Joeten-Kiyu Public Library-CNMI State Library,” Library Director Erlinda C. Naputi added.

“By partnering with federal agencies like the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development, the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library-CNMI State Library continues to work diligently towards sustaining what resources we have and providing our CNMI residents  with access to library services and technology during the Covid-19 pandemic. We, the Commonwealth Library Council, humbly thank Gov. Ralph DLG Torres and the administration, the leadership of Library Director Erlinda C. Naputi and her team for their hard work and dedication in public service for securing this funding opportunity, and most especially, our CNMI community, for their patronage. Take this opportunity to visit your public libraries and utilize the free technology available! Communities thrive at your public library!” said Commonwealth Library Council Chairman George N. Camacho.
