48 new Covid-19 cases

(Commonwealth Healthcare Corp.) — Forty-eight additional individuals have been confirmed positive for Covid-19, bringing the CNMI total to 4,166 cases since March 26, 2020, CHCC reported on Friday evening.

The individuals have been isolated and are actively monitored.

Of the 48 cases identified on Jan. 20, 2022:

21 were identified via contact tracing, 17 via community testing, and 10 via travel testing.

As of Jan. 21, 2022, there were 8 individuals hospitalized as a result of Covid-19:  4 were unvaccinated, 3 vaccinated, and 1 partially vaccinated. Two were on a ventilator.

A total of 189 Covid-19 vaccines were administered on Jan. 21, 2022, resulting in 98.4% of the CNMI’s eligible population being fully vaccinated.

The vaccination statuses of the 48 new cases identified are pending verification.

A total of 668 Covid-19 tests were conducted on Jan. 20, 2022:

534 community-based testing;

117 at the Covid-19 Community Center (referrals only);

10 at Tinian Health Center; and

7 at Rota Health Center.

Of the total cases identified as of Jan. 20, 2022, there had been  3,680 recoveries and 465 active cases.

1,897 of the cases were identified via  contact tracing; 1,792, community testing; and 477, travel testing.

Since March 2020,there have been 21 Covid-19-related deaths.
