(CHCC) — The Governor’s Covid-19 Task Force and the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. have confirmed the CNMI’s 20th Covid-19-related death.
Forty-nine additional individuals have also been confirmed positive for Covid-19, bringing the CNMI total to 3,647 cases since March 28, 2020. The individuals have been isolated and are actively monitored.
As of Jan. 8, 2022, there had been 2,898 recoveries made and 442 active cases.
As of Jan. 9, 2022, there were 12 individuals hospitalized as a result of Covid-19 (6 unvaccinated, 6 vaccinated; 1 on a ventilator); and 1 was discharged.
Of the 49 new cases, 30 were identified via contact tracing, 13 were identified via community testing, and 6 were identified via travel testing.
The vaccination statuses of the 49 cases identified are pending verification.
Since Oct. 28, 2021, there have been 3,356 new cases, of which 1,636 were identified via contact tracing, 1,604 were identified via community testing, and 116 were identified via travel testing.
A total of 344 Covid-19 tests were conducted on Jan. 9, 2022, which comprises travel and surveillance testing but does not include DFEMS testing.
