2 indicted in ‘ice’ cases

THE U.S. Attorney’s Office have filed separate indictments against Sharee Diaz Joyner and Miguelito “Tito” Palacios Paez in drug-related cases.

Joyner is scheduled to appear before District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona for an initial hearing on Feb. 2 at 1:30 p.m.

No hearing for Paez had been scheduled as of press time Wednesday.

Joyner was charged with one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute over 5 grams of methamphetamine or ice. 

According to the indictment, Joyner on Jan. 1, 2019 and Feb. 14, 2019 conspired with another person to possess 5 grams of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

For his part, Paez is charged with one count of attempt to possess over 50 grams of methamphetamine with intent to distribute on or about Oct. 22, 2020.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Garth Backe filed the indictments Wednesday, Jan. 20.

Backe said the federal government intends to forfeit any money or property from the separate offenses upon conviction of the defendants.

The federal government did not provide additional information regarding the charges against Joyner and Paez.
