(MVA) — Toward further developing the niche market of edutourism, the Marianas Visitors Authority is collaborating with Nol Universe, one of Korea’s leading travel agencies, in launching Saipan Schooling English Camp — an immersive educational travel program for elementary and middle school students during the summer break.
The partnership aims to capitalize on the growing global travel trend for learning while on vacation, and — for the Korea market — that includes the opportunity to learn English.
The program will run from Aug. 10 to 30, and participants may choose from 1-week to 3-week sessions. It is open to children ages 5 to 15, accompanied by family members. Classes will be held at Mount Carmel School, where students will participate directly in regular school lessons based on the school’s U.S. curriculum, allowing for natural language acquisition in a real classroom setting. The program also includes diverse extracurricular activities such as arts, golf, and snorkeling.
“The Marianas is an ideal destination for English learning, offering a safe, relaxed environment and abundant opportunities for students to practice English with native speakers,” said MVA Marketing Manager Thomas Kim. “Saipan Schooling English Camp allows families to enjoy a well-rounded vacation while students engage in authentic learning experiences in our islands.”
In addition to academic instruction, students will enjoy experiential field trips to local institutions including a broadcasting station, fire station, and U.S. Federal Court, along with beach cleanup initiatives. These hands-on activities foster social responsibility, career exploration, and global awareness.
“We are excited to launch this enriching English education program in partnership with NOL Universe,” said MVA Managing Director Jamika R. Taijeron. “We hope that many families will create lasting memories in our islands through this experience. Moving forward, we will continue to develop immersive educational content and strengthen The Marianas’ position as a premier destination for English learning and family travel.”
To ensure a meaningful family experience, the program also includes wellness and nature-based activities for parents, such as yoga, starlight tours, cooking classes, and kayaking.
