THE National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Coral Reef Conservation Program, in partnership with Horsley-Witten Group, Koa Consulting and the CNMI government, will host the Achugao Watershed Community Workshop on Nov. 23 at the Tanapag Middle School cafeteria.
The free workshop will start at 4:30 p.m. and end at 7 p.m.
For the past year, watershed partners have been developing watershed and community improvement options for the Achugao Watershed.
This year, they are bringing the workshop to the community level to identify the people’s vision for the Achugao Watershed.
The workshop organizers seek the community members’ participation so they can share their vision for a healthy environment; identify the places in San Roque and Tanapag that they want to see improved or restored, and the types of project they think would enhance the village environment.
In a previous interview, Anne Kitchell, environmental consultant at Horsley Witten Group, said the watersheds in Achugao, Laolao and Garapan had a high level of bacteria in the water, and pollutants and contaminants that flowed into the Saipan lagoon.
