THE CNMI’s Infrastructure and Recovery Program or IRP under the Office of the Governor, in coordination with the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Building Sciences Mitigation Assessment Team and Interagency Recovery Coordination, are conducting free coastal construction trainings which include vital information on building resilience for infrastructure in the Commonwealth, with topics on building design concepts, identifying hazards, siting, design and construction of building foundations, roof systems, and building maintenance. The trainings will take place on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota through the month of November
The training will provide technical assistance and guidance for local government agency employees, private contractors, and non-government organizations to facilitate and support inclusive and equity-focused recovery planning and capacity building efforts in the CNMI. The training is intended to address existing knowledge and skill gaps through an interactive hands-on learning approach to understanding resilient building best practices.
