DENISE Montenegro, also known as Seet Fah Wong, will be Hyatt Regency Saipan’s new director of human resources.
Her promotion takes effect on Jan. 6, 2022, and she will succeed Josephine Mesta who announced her retirement last week after 28 years of service to the hotel.
Montenegro, who is Malaysian, received her diploma in 1992 from the César Ritz Colleges in Switzerland. She gained food and beverage experience while interning at Hotel Krone in Winterthur, Switzerland, and at Brasserie Lipp in Zurich, Switzerland.
Montenegro returned to Malaysia to start her hotel career as a waitress in the Taming Sari Grill Room of the Renaissance Melaka Hotel. She later joined The Datai Langkawi, a beach resort, as an assistant manager.
In June 1996, she became the room service and café supervisor of the Hyatt Regency Saipan. In 1997, she was named food and beverage outlet manager, a position she held until 2003.
She then transferred to the Hyatt’s finance department before working for the hotel’s human resources office.
Montenegro has been a certified hospitality trainer since 2013 and a Society of Human Resources Management certified professional since 2018.
She is currently the SHRM-NMI chapter’s treasurer.
She is married to James Montenegro and they have two children: Amber who is 21 years old and Jett who is 15.
