This and more will be depicted in Hafa Adai, the inflight magazine of Fly Guam, the island’s newest carrier.
Micronesia Publishing Co. managing director Carlos Santos said the Chamorro people are well-known for welcoming guests with open arms and their friendliness is legendary. This island hospitality is one of the strongest attractions of the Marianas.
Speaking to Saipan Rotarians at the Hyatt on Tuesday, Santos said the name “Hafa Adai” reflects how visitors are welcomed to the islands.
“The first issue of Hafa Adai magazine contained articles and features about Guam, and what made the island different from all parts of the world,” Santos said.
“This is one magazine that will tell the travelers from other destinations about the history and culture of Saipan and Guam, what we have to offer, and entice tourists to keep coming back for more to help spur economic success in the islands,” Santos said.
Leaf through the glossy, colorful pages of Hafa Adai and be transported into a world of rich and ancient culture. In its maiden issue published last month, Hafa Adai chief editor Eduardo Garza said they want the magazine to be “a logbook of our travels, in which we share every lesson, adventure and discovery.”
Garza said they want Hafa Adai magazine to be a tribute to the spirit of the strong values Chamorros have such as love and respect for their ancestors and for nature.
Through Hafa Adai magazine, travelers will get a glimpse of the treasures that are available at their fingertips when they visit Guam and the CNMI.
In the first issue, the Around the Islands section gave travelers a chance to venture off the unbeaten path and experience the unique aspects of Guam, from heritage hikes to swimming and diving nooks, must-not miss culinary adventures, a list of what-to-do and where-to-go, tips on where and what to eat, and more to make one’s stay on the islands complete.
More articles and colorful photographs by local talents who have first-hand knowledge of the islands that entice passengers will grace the pages of future issues of Hafa Adai.
Santos said they aim to make every passenger’s flight with Fly Guam as pleasant as possible, and Hafa Adai magazine will go a long way to make trips more unforgettable by exposing them to wonders that await them when they visit the CNMI and Guam.
Santos said Hafa Adai will be published monthly with over 2,000 copies and distributed to the airline’s seven destinations: Guam, Saipan, China, Taiwan, Korea and the Philippines.
