MVA plans Marianas Seminar to support new Japan flights

(MVA) — In support of new flights by United Airlines between  Japan  and  the Marianas  beginning  on September  1, 2022, the Marianas  Visitors Authority is planning  a Marianas Seminar with tourism stakeholders on July 8, 2022, in Tokyo.

The Marianas Seminar & Webinar will gather representatives of travel agencies, travel media and other tourism  partners to provide  an update on the destination’s Covid protocols, MVA’s marketing plans, and attractions.

The direct flights are supported  by the MVA’s  Tourism Resumption  Investment  Plan or TRIP program and are the first flights between the destinations since the Covid pandemic.

“With the recent uptick in outbound travel from Japan and the new direct flights from Tokyo beginning in September, and the Marianas Seminar will allow us to meet with our travel partners and demonstrate why the Marianas is an ideal destination for Japanese travelers,” said MVA Managing Director Priscilla M. Iakopo.  “We continue to work toward a ‘Clean  and Safe Marianas,’ and we look forward to welcoming our friends from Japan back to Saipan, Tinian, and Rota in the Marianas.”

The Marianas Seminar & Webinar will be held at COMORE  Yotsuya Tower Conference. MVA will be joined by United Airlines which will make  a presentation on the new flights, and a representative  of the U.S. Embassy in Japan. Brochures and promotional material of MVA members will also be distributed  to participants.

Leading up to the seminar,  MVA will  conduct  sales calls  to key travel  agencies, United Airlines,  Japan Association  of Travel  Agents,  and the U.S. Embassy.   Following the seminar, interviews will be held with travel trade media.

MVA  is also organizing  familiarization or fam tours for several  media reps and social media influences this month and in July, with additional fam tours planned for September. A booking promotion is also being coordinated with travel agencies to help boost sales of travel packages to the Marianas.

United Airlines will fly three weekly flights departing Tokyo-Narita International Airport at 9:25 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays and arriving in Saipan one day later at 2 a.m. Flights from Saipan will depart on Mondays,  Wednesdays, and Fridays  at 7 a.m. and arrive in Narita at 9:35 a.m.
