In a statement on Sunday, Department of Public Safety spokesman Dre Pangelinan said DPS received a 911 call on Tuesday, Feb. 4, reporting a theft of a weapon and ammunition from a private residence.

On Wednesday, Feb. 5, at about 3:49 a.m., DPS said, “police conducting routine patrol in Lower Mihaville, observed a vehicle with no front license plate and no rear license plate lights. As officers activated their emergency lights, the vehicle took off along Chalan Pale Arnold Road as it headed southbound in an excessive speed and continued to drive recklessly in an attempt to lose the officers before crashing into a retaining wall near the Aging Center in Chinatown. The suspect, who was identified by officers as Patrick Hernandez Muna, got out of his vehicle and fled on foot. After a few minutes officers lost sight of the suspect.”

Inside the vehicle, DPS said, “officers noticed a branch of a green leafy plant, which was later positively identified as marijuana, and multiple small Ziploc bags containing a clear crystal-like substance, which were later tested positive for methamphetamine.”

DPS said the other items found in the vehicle were “an empty box of 20 count .40 caliber ammunition and a single .40 caliber ammunition between the driver’s seat and the driver’s side door.”

DPS said a follow-up interview with the victims of the Feb. 4, 2020 burglary confirmed that the ammunition and the other contents found inside the vehicle were items stolen from their residence.

On Friday, Feb. 7, 2020, an arrest warrant for Patrick Hernandez Muna, was signed by Judge Theresa Kim-Tenorio with bail set at $25,000.
