“I believe that this visit is an important moment for the CNMI in showing the Army what the Marianas has to offer,” CNMI Army Recruiting NCO Staff Sgt. Romeo Igisomar said.

“It’s not often that we get to have visitors from our higher commands here, so being able to show off the place where we live and work is a pretty exciting opportunity for us,” said Staff Sgt. Ryan, the station commander.

Col. Ben Luper, the 6th Recruiting Brigade commander, and Command Sgt. Maj. Charles J. Peterson II will arrive on Feb. 25.

While on Saipan, the two officers will pay a courtesy visit on Mayor David M. Apatang to discuss what the Army can do to provide better opportunities for the citizens in the CNMI.

They will also conduct a tour of the island to see its historical sites and other areas of interest.

Staff Sgt. Igisomar said they have 11 recruits who have enlisted as active duty or reserve duty service members.

He said these individuals are now undergoing training at Fort Benning, Georgia; Fort Jackson, South Carolina; or Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

The local recruiting station currently has two Marianas High School seniors and one Reservist waiting to be shipped off for basic training, he added.
