(JKPL) — In celebration of Women’s Month, the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library invites the community to a month-long celebration of women’s activities.

During Women’s Month, JKPL will highlight the contributions of women in history, culture, and contemporary society.

JKPL will promote, inform, and engage women as stakeholders of government programs and services; create and facilitate programs to discuss good practices, gaps, challenges, and commitments in pursuing gender and development; and inspire and empower women and girls to be agents of change.

This Saturday, March 7, JKPL will be extending its library hours of operation from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Health and fitness

This Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 10 a.m. the Northern Marianas College’s Nursing Club will be conducting a health outreach for the community.

And then from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. attend a free Zumba class for women. Join JKPL’s community partners, the CHCC-NCD Bureau with instructor JJ Caranto.

Zumba is super high energy: the music is loud, and it is one big party. Zumba is a fusion of Latin and Pop music with aerobic and fitness interval training. It includes fast and slow rhythms that will tone and sculpt the body. Come sweat and have fun while getting a great workout!

Early literacy

Then hop on over at 10:30 a.m. with the family to the Children’s Library as JKPL celebrate Read Across America/Dr. Seuss’’ Birthday with special guest Cat in the Hat for a Read Aloud and Craft activity.

Take a photo on the Seuss-inspired photo stage and capture the Cat in the Hat as he frolics his way around the library causing merry mayhem.
