(Public School System) — In light of the news regarding confirmed Covid-19 cases on Guam, all public schools on Saipan, Tinian and Rota will suspend classes from March 16 to 18 while they assess the situation and increase preventive measures to keep all PSS staff and students safe, Education Commissioner Dr. Alfred B. Ada said on Sunday evening.

All PSS administrative staff central offices, Head Start, Early Head Start and Special Education Services are included in this announcement, he added. “We ask for your understanding as we strengthen our protocols. Updates on any matters pertaining to Covid-19 will be announced as expeditiously as possible. We want you to know that we are here for you and with you, as we look to ways to protect our community.” The best defense is containment, self- screening and social distancing, he added. “Be safe, we can do this together.”

In a separate advisory, Mount Carmel School said it is also suspending classes from Monday to Wednesday, March 16 to 18.
