THE Saipan Fil-Am Lions Club distributed 123 care packages to community members on Thursday and Friday.

Club president Eden Mercado said they delivered the care packages to residents on Capital Hill, Tanapag, and San Roque.

The packages contained 12 pounds of rice, butane canisters, noodles, and canned goods.

“It’s not a lot, but we believe they can help some of our community members cope with the Covid-19 crisis,” Mercado said.

She said their club is ready to assist in its own little way despite funding challenges.

“The distribution of the care packages would not have been possible without help from kind and generous donors from Guam and Saipan,” she said, as she expressed appreciation to the donors: Lion Arman Amog and Lion Lyn Reyes of Sapphire Ent. Inc., Lion Mila Pellegrino of Saipan Ice & Water Co. Inc., Fe Valencia-Ovalles of Guam Marianas Training Center, Lion Naty Bui of Genpro International Inc., TSL Foundation, District Second Vice Gov.-elect Lion Loisa Cabuhat, past District Gov. Lion Linda Tolan, past District Gov.  Lion Rey Acierto, Lion Felis Amor Pelosma, Taro Leaf Inc., and others who declined to be identified.

“We are grateful to our partners who are always willing to help us and to our members who continue to serve amidst the Covid-19 threat,” club vice president Socorro Huliganga said. “Where there's a need there's a Lion.”
