THE governor’s authorized representative on Wednesday informed legislators that the Covid-19 Task Force will hold another tour of the alternate care site facility at Kanoa Resort.

House Minority Leader Edwin Propst said he did not receive a written invitation from the administration for the tour scheduled for Tuesday.

The invitation was dated Monday, May 11, and signed by Gov. Ralph DLG Torres. It was addressed to Senate President Victor Hocog and Speaker Blas Jonathan Attao.

“In the spirit of collaboration, I write to invite you and all your respective members to participate in a tour of our Alternate Care Site at Kanoa Resort and to get a full walkthrough of our quarantine and isolation procedures during this global pandemic,” the governor wrote.

The tour started at 2 p.m. on Tuesday with Rep. Sheila Babauta as the only participating legislator. She said she was notified about it by “certain media partners.”

Propst, for his part, said: “I can assure you that none of the members of the minority received any invitation to this event. Rep. Sheila Babauta heard about it and said she would check it out.”

He added, “For future reference, all minority members are easily accessible through social media, cell phone numbers, and email. An invitation could have been sent out quite easily to us.”

Rep. Ivan Blanco said that he received a verbal invitation from Gov. Torres and Lt. Gov. Arnold Palacios during a brief meeting with them a few days prior to the tour, but was unable to participate due to prior commitments.

“I suspect this letter might have not reached our offices in time considering the shutdown,” he added.

After members of the House Special Committee on Federal Assistance and Disaster Related Funding presented their inquiries to the governor’s authorized representative, Patrick Guerrero, on Wednesday morning, he notified them that the governor’s Covid-19 task force will hold another tour for the lawmakers on Thursday at 4 p.m.
