TINIAN Mayor Edwin Aldan is encouraging island residents to avail themselves of the free community-based Covid-19 tests starting Monday, May 18, at the Tinian Health Center.

Aldan said the test is not mandatory, but it will help the governor’s Covid-19 Task Force and Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. detect and contain the coronavirus.

“It is important to remember that testing is only a tool to help combat the virus by better containing it,” he added.

Individuals who want to be tested are required to bring their ID.

The mayor pointed out that getting tested does not improve one’s response to the illness, nor does it reduce the risk of contracting or transmitting the disease.

“People who are tested and have a negative result are still vulnerable to the virus,” he added.
