IN partnership with Karidat Social Services, the Rotary Club of Saipan on Saturday distributed 200 care packages to Rota residents, club president Marcia Ayuyu said.

Karidat registered 45 families as recipients of the care packages and also reached out to other residents who were severely impacted by the Covid-19 crisis, she added.

The care packages contained rice, butane canisters, canned goods, toilet paper, noodles, and bread.

Ayuyu said the care packages were transported on a private boat operated by Rotarians Ivan Ilmov, Perry Inos Sr., and a friend.

The distribution on Rota started at 1 p.m. at one of its pavilions.

“We observed social-distancing rules and Rota police assisted us,” Ayuyu said, adding that the distribution went smoothly and the people were very happy.

She said the Rotary Club is very grateful to the donors, which included Triple J, I Love Saipan, D&Q Distributors International, Micronesian Brokers, Inc., Tan Holdings, Mingyang Market, McDonald’s, Mr. and Mrs. Ono, and Herman’s Modern Bakery.

Ayuyu also thanked all the hardworking and dedicated volunteers who helped transport and distribute the care packages from Saipan to Rota.
