(Triple J) — After almost 25 years of serving the CNMI community, Tony Roma’s and Capricciosa will be closing their doors at the Comete Center in Garapan this month, July 2020.

“The economy is posing unprecedented challenges for many local businesses as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic — most especially businesses like our restaurants that rely heavily on our tourism and hospitality industry. While we are confident that the economy will improve, there is just too much uncertainty on how soon that will be. We have done our best to try and navigate through this unchartered territory and have exhausted all options, so after much deliberation we’ve made the difficult decision to close our doors this month,” said Robert Jones Chairman and CEO of Triple J Enterprises Inc.

“Our priority at this time is to ensure the well-being of our dedicated and passionate team members, some of whom have been with our restaurants for over a decade. We’re extremely proud of our team and their perseverance over the last several months, being able to adjust and adapt to our new normal and even taking part in providing meals to feed local families and first line responders during the pandemic. They are the heart of our restaurants and helped us fulfill our mission of quality food with a strong sense of community,” Jones went on to say.

“We are also most grateful for the community’s support since Tony’s and Cap’s opened in the 90’s. No question, we couldn’t have made it this far without the loyal patronage of the CNMI residents over the years.

“We are proud that our restaurants have served our community as a place for good food and warm fellowship for almost 25 years. Triple J will maintain both franchise licenses and we are hopeful to reopen the restaurants at a later date and possibly a different location in the future.

“As for Surf Club Restaurant and Great Harvest Bakery & Café, they will continue to be open and serve the people of Saipan daily. We plan on re-opening Bubba Gump in Garapan once market conditions improve,” stated Jones.
